Before you start hopping into every challenge on the archipelago, it helps to understand what Frogtime actually is. It’s the tactical board game at the heart of everything in Bonnie Bear Saves Frogtime, and you’ll be playing it constantly.
The basic goal is simple. You need to get your frogs across to the other side of the board to deal damage to your opponent’s scoreboard.
Your opponent is trying to do the exact same thing from the opposite side. Once either player’s scoreboard hits zero, the match is over.
You’ll always have three frogs on the board at a time, drawn from your Toad Bag.
Each frog has a damage value that determines how much it hurts your opponent when it reaches the far side.
Frogs move by jumping over other frogs on the board.
That’s the core mechanic everything else builds on.
Your first match against Ann serves as a solid tutorial, so pay close attention because the game doesn’t repeat those lessons.

Build Your Toad Bag Wisely
Your Toad Bag can hold a maximum of 8 frogs at any time. That’s your entire roster for Frogtime battles, so every slot matters.
When you pick up a new frog and your bag is already full, you’ll have to discard one to make room. This is where a lot of beginners make mistakes by hanging onto their starting frogs for too long.
Don’t get too attached to your early frogs. They’re basic hoppers with low damage values that get outclassed quickly as you progress.
Think about synergy between your frogs rather than just collecting the ones with the highest damage numbers.
A well-built Toad Bag with complementary abilities will beat a random collection of powerful frogs almost every time.

Learn Your Frog Types and Abilities
There are over 40 different kinds of frogs to collect in Bonnie Bear Saves Frogtime, and they all have unique movement patterns and abilities. Learning what each type does is one of the most important things you can do early on.
Basic Frogs are your starters. They can hop over other frogs to move across the board, and that’s about it. They’re reliable but limited.
Pushers are frogs that lick and shove the next frog in their row. They’re great for repositioning your own frogs or disrupting your opponent’s setup.
Squeakers dash forward across the board and gain points as they run. They can rack up damage quickly if you give them a clear path.
Flyers hover over entire rows of frogs. They’re incredibly useful for bypassing a crowded board and getting to the other side when the ground game is locked up.
Cloners duplicate themselves two spaces ahead. This makes them an amazing setup tool because the clone gives your other frogs something to jump over on their next turn.
Ribbeteers are one of the flashier frog types. They shoot small rockets every time they double-jump, adding extra damage on top of their normal movement.
There are also frogs that can blow strong winds to push others, frogs that absorb flies for magical abilities, and even one that fires a laser beam. Read each frog’s description carefully when you pick it up.

Master the Double-Jump Combo
If there’s one strategy that will carry you through Bonnie Bear Saves Frogtime, it’s the double-jump.
The developers themselves have said it’s their favorite tactic, and once you see it in action, you’ll understand why.
Here’s how it works. When one of your frogs leaps over another frog, the game checks if there’s yet another frog to jump over right after. If there is, your frog keeps going automatically.
This can chain into a continuous jump from one side of the board to the other if you set it up right.
The result is a massive damage hit because your frog crosses the entire field in a single turn.
The key to pulling this off is positioning. You want to line up your frogs (and even your opponent’s frogs) so there’s a clear chain of jumps available.
Cloner frogs are perfect for setting up double-jumps because their duplicates create extra hop points.
Pair a Cloner with a Ribbeteer and you’ll get chain jumps that also fire rockets along the way.

Spend Your Cocoduds on Booster Eggs
Cocoduds are the currency in Bonnie Bear Saves Frogtime, and you’ll earn them by winning Frogtime battles and completing quests.
The best way to spend them early on is at the frog shops scattered across the islands.
Each shop sells Booster Eggs, which work like a lucky dip. You won’t know exactly which frog you’ll get, but the shop will tell you which types of frogs are in its egg pool.
Different shops on different islands carry different Booster Egg types.
This means you’ll want to visit every shop you come across, because some frog types are only available in specific locations.
Don’t hoard your Cocoduds waiting for some perfect moment to spend them.
The sooner you expand and upgrade your frog collection, the easier the battles ahead will be.

Don’t Sleep on Frog Hats
Hats aren’t just cosmetic in Bonnie Bear Saves Frogtime. They actually add bonus effects to your frogs, making them a key part of your overall strategy.
You get hats by collecting Frog Tickets.
Every time you discard a frog from your Toad Bag, you receive one Frog Ticket. Once you have three Frog Tickets, you can exchange them for a random hat.
This means discarding frogs isn’t just about making room for better ones.
It’s also your path to unlocking hats that can power up your favorite frogs.
Experiment with different hat and frog combinations to find setups that complement your playstyle. A well-matched hat can turn a good frog into a great one.
The developers mentioned using a Ribbeteer with a mushroom hat and a Cloner with a cone hat as one of their go-to combinations.
It’s worth trying out different pairings to see what clicks for your own roster.

Talk to Every NPC You Meet
Bonnie Bear Saves Frogtime is packed with quirky characters, and almost every single one of them is fully voice acted. But beyond the entertainment value, talking to NPCs has real gameplay benefits.
Many characters will drop hints and tips about Frogtime strategy during conversations. These aren’t throwaway lines. They can genuinely help you figure out how to approach tougher battles.
Some NPCs also unlock side quests, puzzles, and musical moments that you’d completely miss if you rushed past them.
The game has a surprising amount of optional content tucked away behind conversations.
The world of Bonnie Bear Saves Frogtime is meant to be experienced at a relaxed pace.
Take the time to chat with everyone, participate in the musical numbers, and soak in the absurd humor.

Don’t Get Discouraged by Tough Battles
Some Frogtime battles in this game are genuinely challenging, especially as you move into later chapters.
If you lose, don’t worry about it too much. The game autosaves regularly, so you won’t lose significant progress.
One thing to be aware of is that there’s no instant replay option when you lose a match.
You’ll need to walk back to the opponent and challenge them again.
It’s a minor inconvenience, but it’s good to know so you don’t go looking for a rematch button that isn’t there.
If you’re getting stuck on a particular battle, the answer is usually in your Toad Bag composition.
Head to a nearby shop, grab some Booster Eggs, and build a roster that counters whatever your opponent is doing.
Later opponents have specific gimmicks and strategies, so having a diverse roster gives you more options.
Don’t try to brute force tough fights with the same lineup over and over.
Losing a match costs you a little bit of self-worth (which is both a game mechanic and a funny narrative touch), but it’s easy to earn back.
Keep experimenting and you’ll find the right combination.

Explore Every Corner of Each Island
Bonnie Bear Saves Frogtime takes you across multiple islands and locations, and each one is filled with things to discover. Rushing through the main story means missing out on a lot of the game’s best content.
There are hidden items, bonus challenges, and secret interactions scattered throughout every area.
Some of these reward you with rare frogs, extra Cocoduds, or unique hats that you can’t get anywhere else.
The game has 20 achievements to unlock, many of which require you to seek out optional content. A completionist run can push your playtime from around 5 hours all the way up to 9 or more.
You’ll also stumble into some of the game’s wildest moments by exploring.
Things like infiltrating a beehive disguised as a bee, sledding with vampires, and battling a giant sentient pumpkin are all waiting off the beaten path.
After you beat the main story, there’s a bonus challenge that unlocks as well.
Having a solid Toad Bag and a good hat collection from your exploration will make that endgame content much more enjoyable.
