I absolutely love the genre of Metroidvania which is named after both the Metroid and Castlevania series which both share similar design elements.
For whatever reason though I’ve never been super familiar with the Castlevania series itself.
Well the other day I stumbled across this absolutely massive 7 hour and 20 minute long retrospective video covering every single Castlevania game from the original NES to the present day.
The video does an excellent review on each one and also dives into the development history behind each installment and gives a fantastic history of the whole series.
I highly recommend you give this video a watch if you’re at all interested or even if you know nothing about the series. Even if you’ve got to watch it in chunks (which is what I did).
