Smuggler Caches are hidden stashes scattered across Toshara, Tatooine, and Akiva that reward you with credits, valuables, and upgrade materials for Kay’s gear, blaster, and speeder. This master guide pulls everything together in one place and links out to every individual cache guide on Super Star Reviews.

What Are Smuggler Caches?

Smuggler Caches are hidden Miyuki Trade League stashes tucked into caves, cliffs, ruins, canyons, and random bits of wilderness across the Outer Rim worlds you visit in Star Wars Outlaws.

Each cache is:

  • A buried or stashed crate you interact with once.
  • Marked only indirectly by Intel clues and your Holotracker.
  • Packed with credits, valuables, and upgrade materials.

They don’t usually give unique named gear on their own, but over time they add up to a huge boost in upgrade mats and spending money, especially if you’re trying to fully kit out Kay’s blaster and speeder.

How the Holotracker & Intel Work

Most Smuggler Caches are tied to pieces of Intel you can find from datapads and NPCs. Once you have the relevant Intel and the Holotracker from Jet Kordo:

  • The Intel gives you a text clue + map area (e.g., “southwest of the poaching station”, “by the lake at the edge of the valley”).
  • The Holotracker gives you hot/cold feedback:
    • Slow blink & occasional beep = you’re in the general area.
    • Rapid blinking & constant beeping = you’re basically standing on it.

Our individual guides are written so you don’t strictly need the Intel clue, you can just follow the directions to the exact spot. But having the Intel and Holotracker active makes it even easier to confirm you’re in the right place.

Recommended Upgrades Before Hunting

You can stumble into some caches early, but a lot of them are gated by traversal and tool upgrades. It’s much smoother if you unlock:

  • Holotracker (Jet Kordo’s questline)
  • Blaster Power/Bolt module to break mossy/stone walls and sealed cave entrances
  • Grapple / rope for cliff swings, vertical climbs, and dropping safely into shafts
  • Hydrorepulsor speeder upgrade required for water caches on Akiva (Great Basin, Stormhollow)
  • Speeder Boost used for long jumps off ramps and steep mud slopes (especially on Toshara & Tatooine)
  • Fusioncutter needed to cut open certain locked gates (e.g., in Mos Eisley)

In each individual guide we call out required abilities/tools so you don’t ride all the way there only to discover you’re missing a key upgrade.

FAQ: Smuggler Caches & Rewards

Do Smuggler Caches respawn?

No. Each cache is one-and-done. Once you loot it, it stays opened, and the rewards are yours permanently.

Do I need the Intel to loot a cache?

Mechanically, no. If you can find the crate and reach it, you can open it. But the Intel and Holotracker make the hunt much easier, and some Intel chains (like Stolen Imperial Goods, Pyke Bribe, etc.) feel more satisfying if you follow them properly.

What kind of rewards should I expect?

Most caches give some mix of:

  • Credits (great early-game when every upgrade hurts your wallet)
  • Valuables you can sell to vendors
  • Upgrade materials for: Kay’s blaster, Kay’s speeder, Kay’s gear/armor

A few specific caches also tie into larger Intel chains or are placed near other good loot (like named upgrades, datapads, or treasure locations).

What’s the best order to tackle them in?

Totally up to you, but a smooth progression is:

  1. Clear early, low-requirement caches on Toshara as you naturally explore.
  2. Hunt through Tatooine once you have Boost, grapple, Power module, and Fusioncutter.
  3. Finish on Akiva, where Hydrorepulsor and full traversal kit open up Stormhollow and the Great Basin.
