The Cleric is Unicorn Overlord’s primary healing class, the backbone support unit that keeps your army alive with recovery magick, barriers, and debuff removal.
Once promoted to Bishop, the class gains more powerful healing tools and expanded support capabilities. Every army needs at least one Cleric, and most need several.
Strengths
Clerics are the best pure healers in the game.
Their healing skills scale with the target’s max HP, meaning they’re especially effective when paired with high-HP classes like Gladiators and Hoplites.
They can provide Magick Barriers to protect allies from spell damage, which is critical against caster-heavy enemy compositions.
They can also cure debuffs, countering Shamans and poison-using enemies.
After promotion, Bishops gain access to stronger heals, row-wide healing, and enhanced barrier skills.
Their valor skill Heal II provides area-of-effect healing to multiple units on the overworld, which is a game-changer during difficult multi-battle maps.
The leader effect, Healing Assist, provides passive healing support for nearby allied units during overworld engagements.
Weaknesses
Clerics have zero offensive capability. They deal negligible damage and contribute nothing to killing enemies.
They’re extremely fragile with low HP, low defense, and no evasion. Any enemy that targets them will kill them quickly.
They’re also vulnerable to Shamans, who can drain PP and prevent healing passives from activating.
Key Skills and How to Use Them
Heal is the starting active, restores HP to a single ally. Set this to trigger on the most damaged ally.
Cure (level 10) removes debuffs from an ally. Essential against Shamans and poison.
Magick Barrier provides magick damage protection. Use it preemptively on magick-vulnerable allies.
Treat is a passive that heals an ally when they take damage, providing reactive sustain.
Mass Heal (Bishop only) heals an entire row of allies. The upgrade that makes promotion worthwhile.
Promotion to Bishop
Promotion is high priority. Mass Heal, improved healing potency, and the AoE valor skill make the Bishop dramatically more effective than the base Cleric.
Promote early if you rely on this class.
Best Team Compositions and Tactics
Cleric + Hoplite is the classic pairing. Percentage-based healing on the Hoplite’s massive HP pool is incredibly effective.
Cleric + Gladiator keeps the Gladiator at full HP for their damage bonus. Essential synergy.
Cleric + any frontline tank is always good. The Cleric sits in the back row and keeps the front alive.
Set Heal to target the most damaged ally, Treat to activate on any damage, and Magick Barrier on the most vulnerable ally.

Sharon is an early Cleric recruited through “The Winged Knight” in Cornia.
Tatiana is a missable Cleric, choose to “continue the research” during “The Tormented Helm” to recruit her.
Primm joins during “The General in Black” as part of the Berengaria/Aramis chain.
Final Thoughts
The Cleric/Bishop is the most important support class in Unicorn Overlord.
You simply cannot build a reliable army without healing, and Clerics do it best.
Promote to Bishop as soon as possible for the row healing upgrade, and pair with tanky frontliners who benefit most from sustained healing.
