Govil is a Werewolf bestral who snowballs off weakened enemies and gets even scarier at night. He excels at finishing foes to gain bonuses, buffing his row’s physical damage, and converting ally attacks into follow-ups that steal turns. Think of him as a tempo carry who turns small advantages into wipes.
How to Recruit Govil
In Bastorias’ side quest “To Resist or To Yield,” you have three routes:
- Side with Govil → he joins (but Bertrand becomes unrecruitable).
- Side with Bertrand → Bertrand joins (Govil is lost).
- Neutral route (fight both) → a harder battle, but you can recruit both Govil and Bertrand if you win.
Class Overview: Werewolf (Bestral / Infantry)
Identity: Precise finisher with night synergies and strong follow-up pressure.
Leader Effect: Nightwalk (faster overworld mobility at night).
Matchups: Shreds low-HP targets and spread-out skirmish lines; wants screens vs. heavy burst and row nukes.
Promotion: None (stays Werewolf).
Stats and Growth
Govil’s spread screams clean-up predator, accurate, quick, and geared for finishing.
- AP / PP: 2 / 2 – flexible rotations for finisher + passive chains.
- HP: B – sturdy enough with support.
- Physical ATK: B – reliable damage; skills push it over the top.
- Physical DEF / Magical DEF: D / E – not a brick; bring protection.
- Magical ATK: F – non-factor.
- Accuracy: S – hallmark of the class; finishers rarely whiff.
- Evasion / Guard Rate: C / E – he lives by speed and kills, not blocking.
- Crit Rate: C – decent with gear, not mandatory.
- Initiative: A – acts early to set tempo, especially at night.
- Leader Effect: Nightwalk; Growth Type: Lucky / Guardian (steady, survivability-leaning growth).
Skills and Abilities
Actives
- Finishing Stab (1 AP): Single-target strike; if it kills, Govil gains +50% Phys ATK (self-buff). Your primary snowball trigger.
- Decimate (1 AP, Lv10): Single-target hit that gets stronger as fewer enemies remain (up to +100 potency). Great mid/late in a skirmish.
- Wild Fang (2 AP, Lv30): Row attack whose potency increases as targets’ HP drops—use to mop up injured rows.
Passives
- Nocturnal Strike (1 PP): Start-of-battle first strike; at night, also +1 PP. Huge tempo and economy at night.
- Bestral Howl (1 PP, Lv15): Before your active, grant +15% Phys ATK to allies in Govil’s row. Teamwide damage steroid for your front.
- Killing Pursuit (1 PP, Lv25): After an ally’s active, follow-up; +1 AP if the target dies. Converts ally hits into extra turns.
Valor (VP)
- Hide: Make an allied unit undetectable for a short time (until it fights). Niche, but useful for bypassing patrols or sniping objectives.
Best Equipment and Accessories
Weapon slot: Prioritize flat Phys ATK or utility affixes (e.g., sturdiness or initiative); Accuracy is already excellent.
Armor: Mixed/phys-leaning pieces; swap to Mag-resist on caster-heavy maps.
Accessories:
- Carnelian Pendant (+1 AP): Enables Finishing Stab → Decimate or Wild Fang chains.
- Lapis Pendant (+1 PP): Fuels Nocturnal Strike, Bestral Howl, and Killing Pursuit uptime, particularly strong at night.
- Crit/ATK trinket (flex): Helps secure one-tap thresholds after Finishing Stab buff.
(Use the strongest tier you’ve unlocked; names vary by progress.)
Ideal Unit Placement & Team Synergy
Front or mid-row on an aggressive skirmish squad that softens targets first:
Row/column bruisers (Lex, Bruno, Clive): they bring enemies into Wild Fang and Finishing Stab ranges.
DEF breakers / debuffers (Aubin, shamans, rogues): lower defenses or seal guards so Govil’s finishers land and trigger.
Healers/cleansers (Scarlett, Sharon): keep him healthy so he can stay on the front line through counterfire.
Bestral cores (Dinah, Ramona, Morard): benefit from night ops and share timing windows; werefox evasion tanks pair especially well with Govil’s clean-up plan.
Tips and Strategy
Tactic template (priority order):
- Nocturnal Strike (PP) → Always on; free opener (+1 PP at night).
- Bestral Howl (PP) → Before actives (buff your row to push kill thresholds).
- Finishing Stab (1 AP) → Condition: “Target HP ≤ 40–50%” (secure kill → +50% Phys ATK).
- Decimate (1 AP) → Condition: “Few enemies remain” (use once the skirmish is thinned).
- Wild Fang (2 AP) → Condition: “Row with injured enemies” (clean up rows).
- Killing Pursuit (PP) → After ally active; target low HP to refund +1 AP.
Play notes
Night ops = turbo mode. The PP from Nocturnal Strike at night lets you chain buffs and pursuits for relentless pressure.
Finish first, snowball after. Prioritize Finishing Stab kills early in the exchange to turn on the self-buff before bigger swings.
Set the table. Let bruisers soften the field; Govil’s kit scales with fewer enemies and lower HP rows.
Final Thoughts
Govil thrives when your squad already has momentum: he starts fights for free at night, buffs your front line, then chains follow-ups and finishers to keep the enemy from recovering. Give him AP/PP economy, a team that creates wounded targets, and maps that let you push after sundown and he’ll turn close skirmishes into blowouts.
