The Shaman is Unicorn Overlord’s debuff specialist, a curse-wielding mage who cripples enemies by draining their PP, reducing their stats, and inflicting devastating debuffs.

Once promoted to Druid, the class gains even more potent debilitating tools.

If you want to shut enemies down before they can fight back, the Shaman/Druid is the class for the job.

Strengths

Shamans excel at PP drain.

Passive Curse saps enemy PP, which shuts down their passive skills entirely. Against enemies who rely on passives like Heavy Cover, Arrow Cover, or healing reactions, removing their PP renders them helpless.

Defensive Curse reduces enemy physickal defense, making them vulnerable to your damage dealers. This pairs incredibly well with physical attackers who follow up after the Shaman has softened the target.

Shamans are particularly effective against Thieves and Hoplites. Thieves rely on evasion passives that require PP, and Hoplites rely on Heavy Cover, both are crippled when their PP is drained.

After promotion, Druids gain Resist Magick capabilities and even stronger debuffs that can completely neutralize enemy formations.

The leader effect, Resist Magick Assist, reduces magick assist damage from enemies.

Weaknesses

Shamans deal low direct damage. They’re debuffers, not damage dealers.

Clerics and Bishops counter Shamans by curing the debuffs they apply. If the enemy has healing support, your debuffs may not stick.

Shamans are fragile, back-row only, with low HP and defense.

Key Skills and How to Use Them

Passive Curse is the starting active, drains enemy PP and inflicts a stat debuff. Your primary tool for shutting down enemy passives.

Defensive Curse (level 10) reduces enemy physickal defense. Excellent for setting up your physical damage dealers.

Hex (level 20, Druid only) is a more powerful curse with wider debuff effects.

PP Drain is a passive that siphons PP from enemies when they attempt to use passive skills. Brutal anti-sustain tool.

Resist Debuff (Druid) protects allies from enemy debuffs, adding defensive utility.

Promotion to Druid

Promotion unlocks Hex and Resist Debuff, expanding the class’s toolkit.

The debuff improvements and defensive utility make this a solid mid-priority promotion.

Best Team Compositions and Tactics

Shaman + physical damage dealers is the core strategy. Defensive Curse lowers enemy defense, then your Warriors, Gladiators, or Knights clean up.

Shaman + Hunter combines debuffs with precision damage. The Hunter picks off debuffed targets efficiently.

Shaman + Hoplite creates a war of attrition. The Hoplite tanks while the Shaman slowly strips enemies of all resources and stats.

Position Shamans in the back row. Set Passive Curse to fire first to drain PP, then Defensive Curse before allies attack.

Characters Who Use This Class

Selvie is the first Shaman, recruited during the early Cornia missions. She’s an excellent debuffer with strong magick growth.

Generic Shaman mercenaries are available at forts.

Final Thoughts

The Shaman/Druid is the best debuff class in Unicorn Overlord.

PP drain alone makes them invaluable against any enemy that relies on passive skills, and Defensive Curse softens targets for your entire team.

They won’t win fights alone, but they make sure your enemies can’t win them either. A fantastic support pick for any army.
