The Hunter is Unicorn Overlord’s precision archer, a high-accuracy ranged class that excels at shooting down flying enemies and hitting evasive targets that other classes can’t touch.

Once promoted to Sniper, it gains multi-target attacks and even deadlier accuracy.

If you need someone who never misses, the Hunter/Sniper is your pick.

Strengths

Hunters have the best accuracy of any class in the game.

Their attacks carry truestrike properties, meaning they bypass evasion entirely. This makes them the go-to counter against Thieves, Gryphon Knights, and any other high-evasion enemy that gives your melee units trouble.

They’re also highly effective against flying enemies, dealing bonus damage against Gryphon Knights and Wyvern Knights.

Since flying units are some of the most dangerous in the game, having anti-air capability is essential.

Their high initiative lets them act early in combat, often picking off threats before they can act.

The leader effect, Ranged Assist, provides ranged support for nearby allied units during overworld engagements, adding bonus damage to fights your other units are having.

After promotion, Snipers gain multi-target attacks that can hit multiple enemies at once, turning single-target precision into area devastation.

Weaknesses

Hunters are fragile. Low HP, low physickal defense, and no guard capability means they die quickly if enemies reach them. Position them in the back row without fail.

They struggle against Fighters and Hoplites, whose high physickal defense and Arrow Cover/Heavy Cover passives can absorb or nullify ranged attacks entirely.

Hunters also have no utility skills, no healing, no buffs, no debuffs. They’re pure damage dealers and nothing else.

Key Skills and How to Use Them

Aimed Shot is the starting active, a single-target ranged attack with high accuracy and anti-flying bonus damage. Reliable and effective.

Bullseye (level 10) is a high-potency single-target shot that guarantees a critical hit against debuffed enemies. Devastating when paired with Shamans or other debuffers.

Multi Shot (level 20, Sniper only) hits multiple enemies, turning the Sniper into an area damage dealer. Excellent against clusters of flying or evasive enemies.

Truestrike is a passive that ensures attacks can’t be evaded. This is what makes the Hunter special, no enemy can dodge them.

Quick Shot (level 15) triggers a follow-up shot, essentially doubling damage output on some turns.

Promotion to Sniper

Promotion adds Multi Shot and improves accuracy, crit rate, and attack stats.

The ability to hit multiple targets is a significant upgrade from single-target only. Promote at mid-priority, it’s solid but not urgent since the base Hunter already does its job well.

Best Team Compositions and Tactics

Hunter + Fighter/Vanguard is a natural pairing. The Fighter protects the Hunter from ranged counterattacks with Arrow Cover while the Hunter deals damage safely from the back row.

Hunter + Shaman/Druid lets the Shaman debuff enemies so Bullseye triggers its crit bonus. Devastating combo.

Hunter + Hoplite puts an invincible wall in front of your archer. Simple and effective.

Always position Hunters in the back row. Set Aimed Shot to target flying enemies first, and Bullseye against debuffed targets.

Characters Who Use This Class

Rolf is your first Hunter, recruited through “A Solitary Resistance” in Cornia. He’s available early and has strong accuracy growth.

Mandrin is a missable Hunter tied to an execution choice. Spare him to recruit later.

Generic Hunter mercenaries are available at forts.

Final Thoughts

The Hunter/Sniper is the definitive anti-air and anti-evasion class.

When Thieves are dodging everything or Gryphon Knights are tearing your cavalry apart, the Hunter solves both problems with guaranteed-hit precision shots.

Every army benefits from having at least one Hunter in the roster. Just keep them protected and let them do what they do best, never miss.
